9th
November 2001 Another Friday all day ride. This feels like the coldest day of the year so far but once we get going it’s not too bad.
We
do the Holmbury Hill/Leith
Hill circuit with a few extra bits thrown in for good measure. We manage to
do the drop offs plus the tricky downhill from Leith
Hill twice. 5 and a half hours riding and Shavey
and Gary were begging for mercy at the end of
the day. A great ride | |||

November 2001 8-30 a.m at Epsom_Downs Back
to our normal route today. Epsom Downs towards
Walton then under the M25 and double back to Epsom Downs. Saw a guy in a wheelchair
that had a pair of cranks fitted to it so that he was pedalling with his arms.
Much respect to him. It looked like bloody hard work. Also got passed at speed
by some roadies from Pearson’s in Sutton. It’s amazing how much taller they seem
to sit in the saddle. Although I’m 6’ 2 they seemed to dwarf me. Keith
has a new theory. He has had a slow puncture in his rear tyre for about six months
and if he inflates it before riding it lasts for the day. The clever bit is that
he believes it keeps other punctures at bay! I get my first puncture since I started
riding on the very last downhill. Oh well, it was bound to catch up with me. Shavey climbing up Holmbury Hill with Gary in the background
