2nd February 2003

A busy week at work means no riding for me this weekend (carried over lots of things that needed doing at home).

Finally confirmed that I will be entering the Marin Rough ride on 1st June and submitted my advance entry form. It is billed as 'An 80km non-competitive enduro across the Welsh marches including 6000ft of climbing' - sounds great.

Have a look at the site to see pictures of the route. Note that special prizes are awarded for whoever gets most of their team home before 6 p.m.!

9th February

I planned on visiting the Redlands site today - a purpose built trail in Surrey that is being built at Leith Hill. However, despite finding Wolvens Lane (unsignposted) I could see no sign of the trails or of any work having been undertaken. I even asked 3 separate groups of riders, none of who even knew there was any purpose built trails in the vicinity.

I had gone down on my own and am afraid that at this point, it started to rain again and I bottled it, getting back into the nice warm car and driving home. Still, it's only 25 minutes away - I will make another trip down on a drier weekend.

I have subsequently been contacted by those nice people at www.justridingalong.com who have given me precise directions and offered to show me around. Anyone up for it - let me know.

23rd February Keef and Richard - Kakatak challenge

After being out of the saddle for far too long, I enter this orienteering event organised by Nirvana Cycles. Click here for a full report.
