5th June 2005 Richard, Mike, Elliot, Huey, Sue and Cas - Rough Ride

Here's the pictures - full story to follow. Sorry but you need to view pix individually rather than cycle through them as I haven't managed to do an online album yet.

18th June 2005 Richard, Huey and Sue - The Big 8

As a great man once wrote;

"The summer's really here and it's time to come out
Time to discover what fun is about
Here comes the summer"

The thermometer is bursting as it reaches the big three zee-ro on the hottest day of the year so far and Huey, Sue and I find ourselves toiling up the long tarmac climb from Ewell to Epsom Downs on a sunny saturday afternoon.

The road ahead is shimmering and I'm gulping down the water, desperate for the shade of the trees. After a short breather at the top, we set off on a dry and dusty trail which is riding really well.

Huey and Sue are on their <whisper>singlespeeds</whisper> and still have the benefit of all that training they did for the Rough Ride in their legs and set a good pace.

After a great ride, 25 odd miles for me and a few extra for Huey and Sue, we finish up hot, sweaty and satisfied with a cup of tea and a few jaffa cakes in my back garden.

28th June 2005 Richard, Cas and Gary - Box Hill and Back

I didn't think i was going to get out this week but Cas kept on at me abvout an evening ride and we finally met up at Epsom Downs at 7pm on a humid but ovrcast evening.

The trails were dry tho and we flew around returning in time for a pint of Guinness in the Derby Arms before heading for home. A giant thunderstorm then hit us and we ended up soaked but satisfied, back home for 9-30pm.

I have also started to fix the rear wheel on my road bike which went south back in August last year. Turns out it was a broken axle - so a new one has been purchased and I am currently in the throes of fitting it (not as simple as it sounds).

I dunno, you give someone an expensive wide angle lens camera and the first thing they do is turn it on it's side.
